Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Try Manual Lymphatic Drainage at Touch Tuina!

What is it?

Manual lymphatic drainage is a treatment where we work directly on the lymphatic system and it picks up anything that the cardiovascular system cannot manage with. So it’s like our secondary circulatory system. We don’t really like to call it massage as such because we’re not working on the muscles itself, we’re working directly on the immune system, If you’d like to call the lymphatic system part of your immune system.

Benefits

It helps to renew, strengthen and nourish all your cells by helping to remove excess toxicity and waste that the body accumulates and builds up and causes an inflammatory response. So we’re calming down the sympathetic nervous system and giving the body time to rest and recuperate and heal itself.

Who is it good for?

It’s good for everybody! Our main patients for this therapy are post surgery, mostly post cancer, however any surgery is great because we help the healing response and the scar tissue. It helps with any inflammation that’s built up after surgery and to get rid of any toxins that build up from the drugs used during surgery as well as assisting your immune system. Other common complaints it helps with include sinuses, hay fever, any inflammatory response, rheumatoid arthritis, acne, fibromyalgia and polyps. If you’ve just had an infection like tonsillitis, any coughs, colds or flu when you feel your lymph glands kind of swell up here or under the armpits, those are a sign that something’s going on in the body, you’re fighting an infection, a bacteria or some sort of virus.

What are Lymph nodes?

They’re filtering stations, so they filter out all those nasty bacteria, so your body can deal with it. The manual lymphatic drainage that we use here at Touch Tuina is based on the Vodder method. This is used in the medical field and it is done by most nurses to help get rid of any infections and inflammation that’s happening in the body.

Vodder Method

If you are looking for lymphatic drainage, please look for either Vodder or Casley Smith method if you’re wanting the true medical therapy.
