Touch Tuina Treatments

Are you wondering what your first visit to Touch Tuina will be like?

First of all, we’ll start with a written questionnaire about your general health, to highlight any issues you may have. Then we go onto the physical assessment with the pracitioner, where we will ask some questions to determine the root of the issue. Patients will be instructed to lay down or take a seat depending on the ailment presented. The practitioner will then carry out an assessment of the affected areas and tailor the treatment to your needs. There’s no need to remove clothing for the treatment as it will be performed through a sheet. Some medical herbal ointments may be applied to certain areas of your body if necessary.

Your Tuina practitioner may also choose to supplement your treatment with additional tools to further aid your recovery. This may include the heat cabinet, cupping, acupuncture, laser therapy and herbs. The heat cabinet is a fantastic tool and is often used during treatments, you do not need to remove any clothing to use it. It’s not uncommon for the patients to feel a little sore during or after treatment but the pressure of the manipulation will be adjusted for your comfort and you will always be in control of the intensity levels that you feel ok with. A Tuina treatment will usually last between 30-60 minutes, depending on the condition.

The practitioner may also recommend exercises or stretches for maintenance in between appointments and will go through these with you so that you know how do do them safely and get the most from them.

What Treatments do Touch Tuina Offer?

Touch Tuina Treatments

Touch Tuina Massage Therapy

Tuina is based on the theory that imbalances of qi, which focusses on the body’s vital life force of energy, can cause blockages or imbalances that can lead to pain or illness, so Tuina massage helps to stimulate the flow of qi to aid balance and harmony within the body.

Touch Tuina Sports Treatment

This treatment focuses specifically on your main complaint or injury. If you suffer from pain, impaired range of movement or pre and post sports injuries, it helps by alleviating the stress and tension which builds up in the body’s soft tissues during physical activities.

Tuina Maintenance and Relaxation Treatments

Tuina Maintenance and Relaxation Treatments

Maintenance is the key and relaxation is the doorway through to better health. This treatment focuses on general full body massages when there is no longer any specific ailments to be attended to. Frequency and regularity of these treatments helps to improve blood and lymph circulation, gaining and retaining better function of mobility, plus strength, posture and health for the whole body.

Tuina Reflexology

Reflexology is a microsystem treatment where the feet, hands and ears correspond to different parts of the body, including the organs, and by massaging different zonal areas we can target specific issues and help to improve balance as well as overall health.

Sole Reviver

This treatment involves a medicinal/herbal foot soak, neck and shoulder Tuina Massage followed by Tuina Reflexology.

Acupuncture

At Touch Tuina we perform various styles of Acupuncture from Traditional Chinese methods to ‘Orthopaedic’, ‘Tung’ and ‘Tan’ systems, ‘scalp’ and ‘spinal’, ‘Auricular/Ear’ and other ‘microsystem’ styles.

Tuina Facial

Step into a whole new level of self-care with our Tuina Facial, now available at our Kentish Town clinic, curated by our Co-founder Mariana Arando. Why have a facial? Well, it’s like hitting the refresh button for your face, but with a twist!

Acupuncture Facial Rejuvenation

Sometimes referred to as an Acupuncture Facelift, this is much more than a cosmetic procedure. The needles are specifically placed for the individual needs of the patient and designed to help to move blood, energy & stagnation so that the ‘whole’ body can not only look, but also feel younger.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping is the term applied to a technique that uses glass, plastic or bamboo cups as a suction device when placed on the skin. The suction in the cups causes the skin and superficial muscle layer to be drawn into the cup, using gentle pressure to pull them upward, which loosens the muscles.

Guasha Therapy

Similar to our cupping, this treatment uses a tool made from porcelain, buffalo horn, jade stone or resin and is usually used to ‘scrape’ the skin and underlying tissues to affect how disease travels through the different layers of the body.

Kinesiology

Kinesiology is a complimentary holistic health therapy whereby ‘muscle testing’ is used to measure the flow of energy through the body’s structures and can identify areas of imbalance, which can contribute to disease and pain.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Manual lymphatic drainage is a treatment where we work directly on the lymphatic system and it picks up anything that the cardiovascular system cannot manage. So it’s like our secondary circulatory system. We don’t really like to call it massage as such because we’re not working on the muscle itself, we’re working directly on the immune system. It helps to renew, strengthen and nourish all of your cells.

Microneedling

Microneedling

Microneedling effectively treats fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, improves skin texture and colour and dramatically enhances the effectiveness of skincare products. Visible results begin on the first day and continue for weeks afterwards. As collagen levels continue to build up, your skin will become more luminous and your complexion more even.

Paediatric Tuina

Tuina massage for a healthier, brighter child is suitable for new borns and up to 12-years of age, promoting healthy mental & physical development, helping with digestive problems, diarrhea, constipation, coughs, colds, fever, rashes, night crying/restlessness, teething, bed wetting, stiff neck, strengthening the immune system and more.

Far Infrared Sauna

Used in conjunction with deep tissue massage are our Health Mate Far Infrared heat cabinets. Treatments will often involve spending around 10 minutes in the heat cabinet, which will soften and relax your muscles, making you more comfortable on the treatment table and allowing deeper penetration to the areas of your body that may be causing you pain.

BEMER Therapy

The BEMER is a great tool we use at the clinic to increase circulation in the body. In winter, as it gets colder, the blood vessels can constrict and blood flow is slowed or blocked affecting heat loss in the body. This can stop the blood reaching the ends of your fingers and toes, so the BEMER acts like a magnet to increase the body’s circulatory system.

Herbal Therapy

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has evolved over thousands of years. There are several elements to TCM, one of which is Chinese Herbs, which can be used for a variety of medical problems, including respiratory ailments such as colds, flu and bronchitis, heart disease, skin issues, allergies, digestion issues, IBS, tiredness, stress, mental disorders and much more.
