Touch Tuina Sports Treatment

Touch Tuina Sports Treatment

When visiting us with sports or training injuries, the treatment will usually focus specifically on your main complaint or injury. If you suffer from pain, impaired range of movement or pre and post sports injuries, Touch Tuina sports massage helps by alleviating the stress and tension which builds up in the body’s soft tissues during physical activities.

Regular visits to Touch Tuina will also help to keep you injury-free and by using Tuina while training for your events, it enables you to train harder and longer. Many athletes can fail on the day of competition, with their bodies already fatigued and excess lactic acid still in the system from over strengthening not allowing for repair. Touch Tuina keeps the muscles and fascia tissue warm, supple, elastic and strong, helping you to perform at your best.

Minor injuries and lesions can occur due to overexertion and/or overuse, Tuina can treat them quickly and effectively, helping to prevent those niggling injuries that often hinder performance and achievement, whether you’re an athlete, an avid gym goer, a once a week jogger, a busy parent or someone who spends a lot of time on a computer. The key element of this treatment is to improve posture and alignment, as injuries tend to happen when these are out of balance.

A Tuina practitioner uses techniques such as as acupressure, myofascial release, deep tissue work, stretching and joint mobilisation and can stimulate many points during a single treatment and dredge many channels or meridians, similar to the way that Acupuncture works but without needles. Tuina also has the ability to work on the local muscles close to the trauma and break down adhesions and scar tissue at the local level to increase the flow of blood, nutrients and oxygen (Qi/chi) to carry away damaged tissue.
