One of the treatment methods we use at Touch Tuina is Tok Sen. In Thai Massage, ‘Tok’ is the sound to strike or to tap, and ‘Sen’ means meridian or channel line. In Chinese Medicine, however, we’d call it ‘Tok Mai’, with Mai being the meridian lines we follow.
What is Tok Sen?
Tok Sen is an ancient massage technique using a series of wooden hammers to relax muscles and improve circulation. We strike the body with the wooden tool to break down fascial adhesions and release blockages. The rhythmic tapping creates vibrations, encouraging the muscles to quiver, release tension, ease cramps and restore balance into the body.
When doing this, we can hear from the sound and feel from the vibrations and density of the muscle exactly where there are blockages within the body.
